Displasia fibrosa na odontologia: entendendo a doença e como agir

Abstract
Objetivo: O objetivo do trabalho é relatar um caso de displasia fibrosa monostótica e apresentar achados bibliográficos importantes para o diagnóstico e conduta do cirurgião-dentista frente a esta doença. Caso clínico: A paciente de 28 anos compareceu ao consultório odontológico para avaliação de alteração percebida em boca, de crescimento lento, assintomática. Ao exame físico, apenas notou-se expansão rígida do rebordo póstero-superior esquerdo, por éticavestibular e lingual. A radiografia panorâmica revelou alteração do trabeculado em aspecto de vidro despolido. Realizada biópsia incisional confirmou-se o diagnóstico de displasia fibrosa. A revisão de literatura mostra que não é necessário tratamento em casos assintomáticos e sem desejo estético ou funcional. Dar o diagnóstico da displasia fibrosa é importante para o conhecimento do paciente sobre sua possível evolução e possíveis necessidades de tratamento. Conclusão: O cirurgião-dentista deve reconhecer e compreender essa doença para avaliar situações onde outros tratamentos são necessários e a possibilidade de realização de tratamento ortodôntico, implantodôntico, entre outros, diante a complexidade da doença.
