Aleitamento materno em tempos de COVID-19: uma revisão de literatura

Resumo
A pandemia de COVID-19 causou danos à saúde pública mundial, incluindo prejuízos à prática do aleitamento materno. Nesse contexto, o objetivo desse trabalho é revisar a literatura, a fim de fornecer informações relevantes para orientar a prática das equipes multiprofissionais. Para tal, um levantamento bibliográfico foi realizado nas bases de dados PubMed, Portal de Periódicos da CAPES, Cochrane, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde e SciELO, utilizando os descritores “Breastfeeding”, “Health education” e “COVID-19” combinados entre si. Ao todo, foram selecionados 30 artigos, os quais foram publicados nos últimos 4 anos. Nota-se que existem indícios de transmissibilidade viral no aleitamento, fundamentados por resultados positivos na detectação do RNA viral em amostras de leite de mães doentes, mas essa taxa de contaminação é baixa, ainda mais quando adotados protocolos sanitários para exclusão de fatores externos. Por se tratar de uma condição recente, ainda está sendo estabelecido os impactos sociais da doença e os benefícios imunizantes relacionados ao leite materno, principalmente após a implantação de esquemas vacinais. Por um lado, já existem fortes indícios que a saúde, especialmente a mental, da díade mãe-bebê foi prejudicada pela dificuldade de contato com serviços de saúde, mas por outra perspectiva a pandemia se tornou uma oportunidade de defender a amamentação como política pública diante dos benefícios protetivos conhecidos e frente às evidências de imunização passiva dos neonatos contra o coronavírus. Conclui-se que os benefícios de amamentar são amplos em curto e em longo prazo, devendo ser uma prática defendida por toda equipe multiprofissional da saúde.
