Abstract
O objetivo deste texto é apresentar a Usina Tamoio como patrimônio histórico e cultural de Araraquara. Neste momento em que Araraquara completa 200 anos, a Usina Tamoio, bem como o grupo social constituído por seus antigos trabalhadores e moradores precisam e merecem ser lembrados e homenageados como parte importante da história da cidade. Trata-se de valorizar aqui não apenas o patrimônio arquitetônico que a empresa nos deixou, mas sobretudo a história de trabalho e de vida de seu fundador, administradores, antigos trabalhadores e moradores. História que marcou corpos e mentes e que hoje é revivida por meio da realização de eventos (festas, encontros, bailes, página em rede social) promovidos por antigos trabalhadores e moradores. Mais do que um espaço de lembrar e rememorar, esses eventos reativam o sentimento de pertencimento a uma comunidade coletiva e afetiva que resiste em se desfazer.
